  • Measuring is a piece of cake, you need this.

    1. 📐 Tape measure / tape measure
    2. ✏️ Pencil
    3. 📄 Paper

    Before you start

Taking precise measurements for your blinds is essential for a snug fit and hassle-free installation. It's worth investing your time in this process. Our blinds look their best when they fit snugly within the frame without touching the ground or the windowsill.

⚠️ PAY ATTENTION TO ANY OBSTACLES
Keep an eye out for any obstacles that might hinder the blinds from opening, such as a door handle or a tilting window.

Measuring recess fitting (between the walls)

measure into the day at mrjealousy.com

    1. Start with the narrowest width

Measure the width of the frame in three different spots and choose the smallest measurement. Then subtract 10 millimeters from this figure.

    2. Take the longest drop

Measure the frame's length in three places and select the longest measurement. Subtract 10 millimeters from this length.

    3. Enter these measurements

You'll need these two measurements for ordering your Mr. Jealousy. When you place your order, make sure to enter these dimensions in millimeters. We'll produce your blinds to these precise specifications.

Measuring the blind face fitting (on the frame)

    1. Width plus 10cm

You can decide the width of your blinds on your own. To achieve an appealing look, it's a good idea to make the blinds slightly wider than the window. We suggest adding 10 centimeters to the window's width for a stylish fit.

    2. Drop plus package height*

Measure the frame's height from the bottom of the window to the top. Then, add the package height, which includes the top bar and the blinds when fully raised.

    3. Enter these measurements

You'll need these two measurements for ordering your Mr. Jealousy. When you place your order, make sure to enter these dimensions in millimeters. We'll produce your blinds to these precise specifications.

    Before you start

Wondering how to securely hang your blinds? Here's what you need to do:

    Substrate Supplies
    Cast Plaster plugs & screws
    Wood Screws
Stone / Concrete Plugs & screws

    Recess Fitt

    1. Position the brackets

Place the brackets about 7.5 cm from each corner within the frame and securely screw them in place. If you're using more than two brackets, you can space them evenly as you see fit. Make sure the brackets do not put pressure on the mechanism in the top box.

    ⚠️ BUT NOTE!
Always double-check that the bracket at the top isn't interfering with the control or coil. If it is, simply slide the bracket slightly towards the center.

    2. Click the brackets into place

Slide the top box into the brackets and close the scissor support. You'll hear a reassuring click when it's securely in place.

    3. Attach cord holders

You can attach cord holders if you want, but you don't have to.

    Face fitting

    1. Start

Hold your blinds above the window and use a pencil to mark the ends.

    2. Install brackets

Then, position the bracket 7.5 cm from your newly made mark, making sure it falls within the maximum height of your blinds. If you're using more than two brackets, distribute them evenly according to your preference. We're confident you can do it.

    ⚠️ PLEASE NOTE
Always check at the top of the bucket that the bracket is not on the control or coil. If this is the case, slide the bracket up a bit.

    3. Snap in the top box

Slide the top box into the brackets and close the scissor support. You'll hear a reassuring click when it's securely in place.

    4. Attach cord holders

You can attach cord holders if you want, but you don't have to.

    Mind the children

Remember, loose cords and children don't mix well. To prevent accidents, follow these guidelines:

    • Keep all loose cords out of children's reach.
    • Ensure that beds, cribs, or other furniture are positioned away from windows.
    • Avoid tying cords together and make sure they don't form loops or tangles.
    • Rest assured, all our blinds come with a Child Safety system for added protection.
    • Slat Size.

The broader your slats, the more natural light can filter in, and you'll have a clearer view of the outside. Narrower slats are typically better suited for smaller windows.

For wooden blinds, we exclusively provide the 50mm slat width. It's the most popular and aesthetically pleasing size for wooden blinds, chosen by many.

    • Placement Face or Recess Fit

      Placement Recess Fit

When a blind is set up for Recess Fitting, it hangs between the walls or window frames. Typically, the sides are not visible in this setup, allowing for a more tailored and customized appearance.

      Placement Face Fit

In the case of Face Fitting, the blind hangs in front of the window frame, wall, or ceiling. Here, the sides of the blind are usually visible, offering a different aesthetic compared to Recess Fitting.

    • Ladder cord & tape.

      Ladder cords

When you opt for ladder cords, you have the choice of matching colors or black and white. Blinds with ladder cords offer a contemporary appearance and allow the most light to filter through.

      Ladder tape

Ladder tapes are decorative fabric strips with a 25mm width. They drape over the perforation holes, concealing them from view. We typically select the color that best matches your blinds by default, but you're welcome to opt for black or white if you prefer.

Selecting ladder tapes not only adds a decorative touch but also enhances light-blocking properties. Please note that ladder tapes are only available for blinds with a slat width of 50mm.

    • Control side.

Our blinds offer various operating options to suit your needs. Let's break down the differences and when to choose each one:

      Shared control

In most cases, a shared operation is the go-to choice. This means you pull the blinds up on the left and tilt them to the right. It's perfect for single windows.

For blinds with a width of less than 500 mm, the operation is always shared.

      Control left or right

If you're installing multiple blinds side by side, consider opting for individual control on the left or right. This way, cords won't be visible in front of the window.

      Example

For instance, if you have two windows side by side, choose the leftmost window to have the controls on the left and the rightmost window to have the controls on the right.

If you have three windows in a row, select the leftmost window for controls on the left, the middle window with split controls, and the rightmost window with controls on the right.

      Smaller sizes

Keep in mind that for blinds with a width of less than 500mm, the operation is always shared.

    • Top rail & bottom rail.

Blinds always have a top rail & bottom rail. In most cases this is the same color as the chosen slat color. However, there are a number of exceptions.

      Wooden blinds.

Wooden blinds always have the same top rail and bottom rail.

We always supply a cover strip and bottom rail in the chosen wood color and finish to your Mr. Jealousy. So there will be no color difference.

      Covering Strip
When it comes to the cover strip for face fitting, it wraps around the front and sides of the headrail, concealing it nicely. However, for recess fitting, it only covers the front of the headrail.

      Aluminum blinds.

As for aluminum blinds, they typically come with a top and bottom bar that matches the slat color. If that's not possible, we'll provide a shade that complements it well.

Don't fret; when you hang or pull down the blinds, the lighting will create a pleasing overall look.

If you think a black or white top bar and bottom bar would better suit your window frames or interior, you have that option too. The black top bar is available in Drop Black, and the white top bar is in Looks Like 9010.

        • Cutout for baseboards and obstacles

Are you going for blinds inside the frame that go all the way to the floor? Or is part of your frame tiled? In that case, your blinds might not fit or align perfectly in your frame.

          Uitsparing voor plint of obstakel

To fix this, you can add a cutout at the bottom of your blinds. This way, the lower part neatly fits between the baseboards or tiles. Nice and clean.

Simply enter the width and height of the baseboard, tile, or obstacle, and indicate whether it should be cut out on the left, right, or both sides.

          Questions

If you have any questions about cutouts at the bottom or measuring your blinds, feel free to reach out to us.

        • Side guides for turn-tilt windows.

All our blinds can be equipped with side guides, which come in handy for doors and windows that can be opened, like tilt and turn windows. These guides keep the blinds securely in place, using a steel wire and additional brackets at the bottom.

In most cases, we recommend choosing 25 mm blinds for side guides. However, if the window glass is deep enough or there's no handle obstructing, 50 mm blinds work beautifully too. Just ensure that your window can still open and close properly.
